Esther Sibiude is a visual artist, a harpist and a harp instructor living in New York. Originally from France, she studied philosophy at la Sorbonne in Paris before she moved to Berlin to study Fine Arts at the Universität der Künste. She started to learn classical harp at age seven and extended her harp studies to jazz and improvisation as an adult. She now teaches private lessons at her home in Park Slope. Concurrently she writes and directs short stories that she puts to music. They are performed live by her string ensemble or broadcasted on the radio. Recent performances that she wrote and directed include The Song of Dirt Stammers our Tongue a live staged radio operetta performed at the Kitchen and Esra a live staged radio play performed in the panorama of NYC at the Queens Museum. Her works combines story-telling with a wide range of music, old and new, and seeks to create space for contemplation. The allegories she writes inspire her drawing and painting practice in which biomorphic landscapes evoke possible origin stories.
